My Writing About What Music Is: Music is everything! Everything is music! –Paul Whiting (written approximately on March 21st, 2015 and turned into 'my writing' on September 18th, 2022)
My Philosophical Notes:
The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: What inspired this poem is the song "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most," written by Fran Landesman and Tommy Wolf.
It is one of my favorite songs, especially due to the lyrics "College boys are writing sonnets/In their tender passions their engrossed," since I really relate to those particular lyrics as a poet.
You see, sometimes in springtime, I like listening to this song when I am in the mood—especially the version by Barbra Streisand from the album "Just For The Record," which first introduced me to this song—since it reminds me of the contrast between the lasting, sweet promise of relationships and the often short, bitter reality of them... And there is a lot of music like this which I only listen to occasionally; but for the most part, I listen to music at every opportunity because, to me, "music is everything" and "everything is music!" For, music is such a great type of emotional expression and—yes—even a type of therapy!
