Post No. 080: The Perfect Reasons To Go Vegan

(Image from Dreamstime)

The Perfect Reasons To Go Vegan

The Perfect Reason To Go Vegan No. 1:

Why give food that you can eat to animals and then eat animal meat, or other animal products?

In other words, "Cut out the middle man."

The Perfect Reason To Go Vegan No. 2:

Besides that, why contribute to the impact of eating animal meat, or other animal products, which accounts for a really large percentage of all worldwide greenhouse gas emissions?

In other words, "Cut out the global warming."

My Writing About The Perfect Reasons To Go Vegan: Why give food that you can eat to animals and then eat animal meat, or other animal products? In other words, "Cut out the middle man." Besides that, why contribute to the impact of eating animal meat, or other animal products, which accounts for a really large percentage of all worldwide greenhouse gas emissions? In other words, "Cut out the global warming." –Paul Whiting (written March 30th, 2015, revised October 18th, 2021 and revised July 18th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About How Raising Animals For Food Is Slavery: Raising animals for food is basically slavery—and we should not engage in, support, or condone slavery in any way, shape or form—because slavery is just plain wrong. –Paul Whiting (written April 11th, 2015 and revised July 18th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Becoming Vegan: If possible, become vegan! I became vegan again (for the second time), around the end of March 2015, and I am feeling much better about my food choices, plus I am feeling much better overall. Veganism is naturally healthier and you can lose weight! The first time that I became vegan, I lost forty pounds over several months, due to choosing to only consume foods that were not animal-based. –Paul Whiting (written April 11th, 2015 and revised July 18th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About How Consuming Animal Meat And Other Animal Products Is Not Good: Consuming animal meat, as well as other animal products, is not good for the animals—it is not good for you—and it is not good for global warming, because livestock, and their byproducts, account for a really large percentage of all worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. –Paul Whiting (written December 27th, 2015, revised October 18th, 2021, revised October 24th, 2021 and revised July 18th, 2022)

There is a climate emergency and you can help by signing the Plant Based Treaty*

The IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] issued a "final warning" in March 2022. We are heading towards 1.5C [1.5 degrees celsius, which is 34.7 degrees fahrenheit] warming by 2030 unless we change our reliance on fossil fuels and animal agriculture. You can help by signing the Plant Based Treaty* which has the goal of switching the planet to a plant-based food system and encouraging diet change, not climate change.

What is the Plant Based Treaty?

The adoption of a Plant Based Treaty as a companion to the UNFCCC [United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change] / Paris Agreement will put food systems at the heart of combating the climate crisis. The Treaty aims to halt the widespread degradation of critical ecosystems caused by animal agriculture, to promote a shift to more healthy, sustainable plant-based diets and to actively reverse damage done to planetary functions, ecosystem services and biodiversity.

The Plant Based Treaty has three core principles:

[1.] Relinquish

No land use change, ecosystem degradation or deforestation for animal agriculture

LEARN MORE:

https://plantbasedtreaty.org/the-pbt/#relinquish

[2.] Redirect

An active transition away from animal-based food systems to plant-based systems

Why do we need a Plant Based Treaty?

Fossil fuels and animal agriculture are the driving force behind runaway global warming as well as extensive biodiversity loss, large-scale deforestation, species extinction, water depletion, soil degradation and ocean dead zones. Addressing fossil fuels alone isn’t enough – we need action on food systems too; that’s where the Plant Based Treaty comes in. The three main greenhouse gases – carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are at devastatingly high levels and rapidly accelerating.

Animal agriculture is driving Indigenous land theft in the Amazon; subjecting racially and ethnically marginalized communities to disproportionate amounts of toxic waste from factory farms and slaughterhouses as well as exposing workers to toxic chemicals, hazardous working conditions and severe trauma.

Dear endorser,

Thank you for supporting the Plant Based Treaty!

Within this folder you will find graphics you can use to spread the message about the Plant Based Treaty and announce your endorsement. We’d love it if you could tag us in your posts so we can connect with endorsers across the globe.

If you need help with suggested captions for your announcements, we’ve put together a few ideas that you can use for inspiration.

1. We are proud endorsers of the Plant Based Treaty. There is a code red climate emergency and we must take immediate action to avert catastrophe.

2. We have endorsed the Plant Based Treaty. Ending fossil fuels alone will not avoid climate breakdown, we must do both and we must do it now.

3. Please join us in endorsing the Plant Based Treaty. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation and biodiversity loss, and the expansion must be stopped. Eat plants, plant trees and endorse the Plant Based Treaty.

4. There is a climate, ocean, biodiversity and animal crisis, but the solutions are right before our eyes. We need to phase out fossil fuels and transition to a plant-based diet. Action is required at all levels, from individuals, to business to government.

Let’s do it together and make an impact.

Post No. 078: My Theory on the Cause of Female Eating Disorders

(Image from Wikipedia)

The following is My Theory on the Cause of Female Eating Disorders due to males subconsciously pressuring females to be both male and female in their appearance—in other words, tall and thin like a male, but short and fat like a female—and the females are responding to this pressure, through eating disorders, in order to appease the males and to be considered sexually attractive by the males:

My Theory on the Cause of
Female Eating Disorders

My theory on the cause of female eating disorders begins with hunting and gathering, or foraging.

I theorize that males have been sexually bonding, or relieving sexual tensions, with other males, practically since the dawn of humankind, because they were spending most of their time away from the females while they were out procuring food for the tribe (at least, after the invention of dwellings, or shelters).

And the females have been sexually bonding, or relieving sexual tensions, with other females, practically since the dawn of humankind, because they were spending most of their time away from the males while the males were out procuring food for the tribe (at least, after the invention of dwellings, or shelters).

And the males would return from their food procuring expeditions and the females would process the foods that the males procured into something edible for the entire tribe to consume. That way, the females could be home with their young children (protected from natural predators and inclement weather by their dwellings) nursing and/or nurturing the children until they reached maturity. And the males would, again, go out on food procuring expeditions.

Therefore, while the males were out on their food procuring expeditions, they would relieve sexual tensions with their fellow males. And because males do not shoulder the responsibility of pregnancy and childbirth, nursing and nurturing, but do shoulder the responsibility of hunting and gathering (and later, farming, or the growing of crops and the raising of livestock), the males are naturally tall, thin and muscular, because they are workers—who are designed to support the females in childrearing.

In contrast, because females do shoulder the responsibility of pregnancy and childbirth, nursing and nurturing, their bodies are naturally shorter, fatter and softer than the males, since their bodies need to have enough stored fat, during the lean times of food procurement, in order to keep both themselves alive and their nursing children, because they are nurturers—who are designed to be supported by the males in childrearing.

So, I theorize that the males are naturally bisexual, due to engaging in sexual activity with both females and other males. Therefore, while the males are out on their food procuring expeditions, the males are sexually bonding with each other. And that is why males are "wired," so to speak, with a subconscious impulse, if you will, to be sexually attracted to tall, thin and muscular males, as well as short, fat and soft females!

Plus, I theorize that females are also naturally bisexual, due to engaging in sexual activity with both males and other females. Therefore, while the females are nursing and nurturing the young children in their shelters, the females are sexually bonding with each other. And that is why females are "wired," so to speak, with a subconscious impulse, if you will, to be sexually attracted to short, fat and soft females, as well as tall, thin and muscular males!

And I further theorize—because humans have been hunting and gathering up until about 12,000 years ago—that the 'hunter-gatherer' males were "wired," so to speak, to engage in sexual activity most often with other males, since they had to spend most of their time hunting and gathering in order to keep the tribe alive. And the 'hunter-gatherer' females were also "wired," so to speak, to engage in sexual activity most often with other females, since they had to spend most of their time with other females—in their shelters, which were protection from natural predators, as well as from inclement weather—while the males were out procuring food.

Additionally, males are very much visually-oriented with regard to sexual attraction; so, the males are attracted to "the looks" in a sexual partner. And females are very much emotionally-oriented with regard to sexual attraction; so, the females are attracted to "the personality" in a sexual partner.

In conclusion, then: males are subconsciously pressuring females to be both male and female in their appearance—in other words, tall and thin like a male, but at the same time short and fat like a female—because that is how the males are "wired" to think. And the females are responding to this pressure, through eating disorders, in order to appease the males and to be considered sexually attractive by the males!

"Hunter-gatherer" from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia—which is funded primarily through donations from millions of individuals around the world, including this blogger (I make a totally affordable monthly donation):

"A hunter-gatherer or forager society is a nomadic society in which most or all food is obtained from wild plants and animals, in contrast to agricultural societies, which rely mainly on domesticated species. Anthropologists have remarked that the term foraging is a more appropriate description of the predominant food source for most non-agricultural groups: Gathering is a far more important source of food than is hunting for the majority of non-agricultural societies, according to Richard Borshay Lee.

Foraging was the ancestral subsistence mode of Homo. As The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Hunters and Gatherers says: 'Hunting and gathering was humanity's first and most successful adaptation, occupying at least 90 percent of human history. Until 12,000 years ago, all humans lived this way.' Following the invention of agriculture, hunter-gatherers have been displaced by farming or pastoralist groups in most parts of the world. Only a few contemporary societies are classified as hunter-gatherers, and many supplement, sometimes extensively, their foraging activity with farming and/or keeping animals..."

Post No. 077: Our Karma Is The Healing...

(Image from getting-positive-karma-now.com)

Our Karma Is
The Healing From
Being Nothing

We are all negative energy from being born as Literally Nothing and The Healing From Being Nothing is Our Karma, since we can "dish it out" in whatever way that we feel; Then, subsequently, we will "take it" in whatever way that we "dished it out": Therefore, we will change the way we "dish it out" thereafter and—that way—we can "take it" the way that we "dish it out" in the future!

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., Poet, Artist and Philosopher)
"I am the poet who thinks that he knows it!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Karma As The Law Of God: The karmic circle of life is the law that binds. It is the law which can be bent in awareness, but it can only be broken out of a desire to know. Break the law and you will surely know it. Know the law and you will surely bend it. –Paul Whiting (written approximately on May 1st, 2009 and turned into 'my writing' on September 23rd, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About How God Mirrors Whatever We Believe To Be True: I think that God is a quantum computer, because God's Consciousness is the entire Universe! And I also think that you and I are individual projections of God's Consciousness—as individual manifestations of God—and that we are all Gods and/or Goddesses of our own creations! Therefore, God acts just like a "Karmic Mirror," if you will, reflecting what each one of us believes to be true about ourselves, and each other, in relationship to God's Universe. Thus, God simply reflects whatever you and I believe to be true—no matter what we believe—because God is simply mirroring us, being an exact reflection of God, as individual manifestations of God. –Paul Whiting (written August 5th, 2011, revised March 20th, 2015, revised July 29th, 2021, revised March 21st, 2022, revised July 24th, 2022 and revised January 31st, 2023)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About God Being A Perfect Karmic Mirror: I feel like it is really important to "Think About Whatever You Are Thinking About" in order to be more proactively in contact with "Your Subconscious Self," which I truly believe is God in the form of a "Perfect Karmic Mirror" through which God is always reflecting "Your Karmic Consciousness." –Paul Whiting (written February 19th, 2012 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About "The Arc Of The Moral Universe" Quote By Theodore Parker (Which Was Made Famous By Martin Luther King, Jr.): There is a really wonderful quote by Theodore Parker (which was made famous by Martin Luther King, Jr. in his sermon on March 31, 1968) that states the following: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." And I think that is an absolutely perfect description of Karma. –Paul Whiting (written April 19th, 2012 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About "God's Computer": I truly do believe that when "God Created The Heavens And The Earth" that what God actually created was a "Super Computer" in the form of God embodying—quite literally—as the entire Universe! And that is why I also believe that God is literally all around us—and that God is literally contained within all of us too—in the form of the entire Universe, which is what constitutes "God's Computer." Plus, I truly do believe that God is also Our Subconscious Self in the form of an Absolutely Perfect Mirror, who is continuously reflecting All Of Our Karma throughout All Of Our Lifetimes! And because God is Our Subconscious Self, that is how, and why, prayer works—since prayer is simply a form of direct communication with God! Thus, I truly do believe that we are all "Independent Operating Units" (or, "IOUs") contained within God's Computer—and that is why God is literally all around us! And that is also why God is literally contained within all of us! And that is also why "We Are All One With God!" –Paul Whiting (written May 26th, 2012, revised November 24th, 2015 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Micromanaging Your Karma: In my own personal belief system, it is prudent to learn how to "Micromanage Your Karma," so to speak. And you do this by always "Thinking About Whatever You Are Thinking About" in order to become "Highly Self-Aware" of whatever it is that you are thinking about at a Subconscious Level—that is, at the level of your consciousness where I believe that God truly exists as a "Perfect Karmic Mirror." For, I honestly do believe that the "Subconscious Self" truly is God. –Paul Whiting (written June 10th, 2012 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Your Soul's Résumé: Your Karma is your soul's résumé. –Paul Whiting (written July 1st, 2012 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About The Healing From Being Born Nothing: We are all negative energy from being born as Literally Nothing and The Healing From Being Nothing is Our Karma, since we can "dish it out" in whatever way that we feel; Then, subsequently, we will "take it" in whatever way that we "dished it out": Therefore, we will change the way we "dish it out" thereafter and—that way—we can "take it" the way that we "dish it out" in the future! –Paul Whiting (written March 25th, 2015, revised November 20th, 2015, revised October 13th, 2021, revised May 20th, 2022, revised June 23rd, 2022, revised July 24th, 2022 and revised September 22nd, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Your Karma Defining You: Your Karma is based upon your beliefs about "The Truth Of Life"—which are based upon your decisions and experiences in your past lives—and those beliefs are what define you. –Paul Whiting (written July 23rd, 2016, revised October 23rd, 2021, revised June 23, 2022 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About The Saying By Jesus The Christ, "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Done Unto You": The saying by Jesus, "Do unto other as you would have done unto you" is literal. For, whatever you are doing unto others is going to be done unto you—by your own soul in those other lifetimes, when you were doing unto others—through "The Power Of Karma." –Paul Whiting (written August 2nd, 2016, revised August 16th, 2016, revised July 29th, 2021 and revised July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Treating God The Way That You Wish To Be Treated By God: Your intentions for God are God's intentions for you! In other words, the way that you interact with God is the way that God interacts with you. And I think that is what Jesus The Christ was saying when He said the following: "Do unto others as you would have done unto you"; and "When you have done it to the least of these...you have done it unto me"; plus "Judge not, lest ye be judge"; as well as "For have I not said ye are gods?" You see, Jesus was explaining to us that we establish 'Godly Karma,' so to speak, through our intentions for God, and by our interactions with God. Phrased another way: "Treat God The Way That You Wish To Be Treated By God." –Paul Whiting (written May 15th, 2022, revised May 16th, 2022, revised June 23rd, 2022 and July 24th, 2022)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About The Energy That You Are Putting Into The Universe, Version No. 1: The energy you're putting into the Universe is the energy you're getting back. –Paul Whiting (August 17th, 2023)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About The Energy That You Are Putting Into The Universe, Version No. 2: The energy that you are putting into the Universe is the energy that you are getting back from the Universe. –Paul Whiting (August 17th, 2023)

"Alone in a crowd" describes how it
feels for you to be surrounded by others,
but still feel lonely, since you are not alone
in a crowd... For, not feeling like you have a
good relationship with yourself makes the
crowd feel like it's solitude, rather than the
crowd feeling like it's companionship.

My Philosophical Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: "You are not alone—you are lonely for your own good company! You have been without good company: you are always there... If you are feeling lonely—like I feel lonely sometimes—you are lonely for your own good companionship."

And what prompted this poem is the song "Morning Prayer," written by Jason Gould, Marsha Malamet, Liz Vidal, as performed by Jason Gould, and specifically the lines, "I ache to see you walk through my open door/To fall in your arms and know I'm not alone anymore." (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

You see, I have noticed that a lot of songs have some kind of message about "being alone until you find your one, true love..." And when I heard this same message in Jason Gould's song I thought, "You are not alone...you are always there!"

And this poem was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."

My Writing About What Music Is: Music is everything! Everything is music! –Paul Whiting (written approximately on March 21st, 2015 and turned into 'my writing' on September 18th, 2022)

My Philosophical Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: What inspired this poem is the song "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most," written by Fran Landesman and Tommy Wolf.

It is one of my favorite songs, especially due to the lyrics "College boys are writing sonnets/In their tender passions their engrossed," since I really relate to those particular lyrics as a poet.

You see, sometimes in springtime, I like listening to this song when I am in the mood—especially the version by Barbra Streisand from the album "Just For The Record," which first introduced me to this song—since it reminds me of the contrast between the lasting, sweet promise of relationships and the often short, bitter reality of them... (Please see the hyperlink below for the video.)

And there is a lot of music like this which I only listen to occasionally; but for the most part, I listen to music at every opportunity because, to me, "music is everything" and "everything is music!" For, music is such a great type of emotional expression and—yes—even a type of therapy!

And this poem was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."

My Writing About Happiness Having To Be Engineered: Happiness has to be engineered, since we are Literally Nothing that is self-aware! And that is why every single, little thing has to be thought into existence by being designed, built through trial and error efforts, tested for workability, verified as effective, implemented as planned and, finally, maintained and repaired. And—if necessary—every single, little thing also has to be rethought, redesigned, rebuilt through trial and error efforts, retested for workability, reverified as effective, reimplemented as planned, and then re-maintained and re-repaired, etc... –Paul Whiting (written March 5th, 2022, revised May 31st, 2022 and revised July 25th, 2022)

My Writing About 'The Seven Steps To Happiness,' So To Speak, As They Relate To Fear, Understanding And Love [March 27th, 2023 Update—Continued Further (Originally From My Blog Post Titled, "I Am No Longer Being An Activist In The Same Way That I Was," Which Is On My "Poet, Artist and Philosopher" Blog)]:

This 'March 27th, 2023 Update—Continued Further' is originally from my blog post titled, "I Am No Longer Being An Activist In The Same Way That I Was" on my "Poet, Artist and Philosopher" blog, which also appears on some of my blogs as the following: "My Writing About 'The Seven Steps To Happiness,' So To Speak, As They Relate To Fear, Understanding And Love." And what inspired this writing is an idea that—as a philosopher—I have been thinking about for quite some time regarding the steps that one has to take in order to be hard working and honest.

And the idea I had been thinking about—which I was planning to eventually put into writing as grouped into seven subcategories within a larger category, or seven individual steps on a lifelong journey—went something like the following statement:

1) You have to assume risk 2) in order to solve problems 3) through the utilization of trial and error effort 4) since you have to make mistakes 5) and you have to learn from your mistakes 6) so that you can face your fears 7) which is why you can be hard working and honest!

Then, on March 27th, 2023, the day that I wrote this 'update,' I was contemplating the connection between fear (which is negative energy), understanding (which is neutral energy) and love (which is positive energy). And I had also been thinking over some period of time about the direct connection between the facing of fear, which leads to an understanding of that fear by facing it, which then leads to an inversion of that fear into its exact opposite state of love.

Thus, these two different types of thinking about how to be hard working and honest, as well as how to invert your fear into love through understanding of a particular fear by facing that fear, came together in my mind, which is why I created "My Writing About 'The Seven Steps To Happiness,' So To Speak, As They Relate To Fear, Understanding And Love."

Here are "The Seven Steps To Happiness":

Step To Happiness No. 1: You need to assume calculated risk in order to face your fears so that you are able to invert (or, "convert to the opposite state of energy") your fear—which is negative energy—so that you can solve the many problems in life that are "down-to-earth," so to speak, because they are gravity-based problems (such as access to healthy food, clean water, fresh air, sufficient clothing, adequate personal care products, quality health care, affordable housing, efficient transportation, etc.) and also psychologically-based problems (such as having plenty of satisfying friendships, romance, quality time with family, relaxation, sleep, etc.).

Step To Happiness No. 2: And you sometimes need to create solutions "out of thin air," so to speak, when you are facing your fears, by assuming risk and solving problems through trial and error effort. Thus, solving "down-to-earth" problems is no small task because sometimes the "out-of-thin-air" solutions may be the only thing that you have available in your proverbial took box. And you have test (or, try out) those "out-of-thin-air" solutions to see if they frickin' work in order to solve those "down-to-earth" problems!

Step To Happiness No. 3: Then, while you are testing (or, trying out) the "out-of-thin-air" solutions to your "down-to-earth" problems, through trial and error effort, you have to make mistakes (sometimes, really big mistakes!), so that you can learn from your "trial-and-error" mistakes (even the really big mistakes!) and that way you are able to do better in future after having learned from your (sometimes, really big!) mistakes.

Step To Happiness No. 4: Now, because you can do better in future, since you are able to learn from your "trial-and-error" mistakes, that is what makes it possible for you to be hard working and honest, which is why you can be happy!

Step To Happiness No. 5: Thus, you can face your fear (which is negative energy) and invert—or, "convert to the opposite state of energy"—your fear into understanding (which is neutral energy), since you can finally understand exactly why you were fearful! And that is what makes it possible to convert your fear into the opposite state of love (which is positive energy) through your understanding of that particular fear by having faced the fear.

Step To Happiness No. 6: To clarify though, facing your fear is no small task, since fear can be abjectly terrifying! So, when I talk about facing fears, I mean the really big fears, like having everything go horribly wrong and having to pick up the pieces of your world that may very well have completely shattered. However, that doesn't mean that all fear facing is nearly that intense, but it sure can be, depending upon the circumstances in which you are facing your fears and the types of fears that you are facing.

Step To Happiness No. 7: Therefore, you need to have a healthy respect for assuming calculated risk in order to face your fears by creating solutions to problems through trial and error effort, because you sometimes have to make really big mistakes, and learn from those mistakes, so that you can do better in future, which is what makes it possible for you to be hard working and honest, and that is why you can be happy! So, facing fears is inverting the negative energy of fear into the neutral energy of understanding, which is what makes the positive energy of love possible, since you understand why you were fearful. That is why facing your fears is no small task, because fear can be abjectly terrifying, hence the need to have a healthy respect for assuming calculated risk.

So, in summary "The Seven Steps To Happiness" are accomplished by doing the following:

1) You need to assume calculated risk in order to face your fears by
2) creating solutions to problems through trial and error effort, and by
3) making mistakes, then learning from those mistakes, so that you can do better in future, since
4) learning from your "trial-and-error" mistakes is what makes it possible for you to be hard working and honest, thereby making it possible for you to
5) invert your fear into understanding first and then into love second; however,
6) facing your fears is no small task because fear can be abjectly terrifying, therefore,
7) you need to have a healthy respect for assuming calculated risk, in order to face your fears by creating solutions to problems through trial and error effort, because you sometimes have to make really big mistakes, and learn from those mistakes, so that you can do better in future, which is what makes it possible for you to be hard working and honest, and that is why you can be happy!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Philosophical Notes:

The reason that I wrote this prose can be summed up with the following statement: All souls began as Literally Nothing, so creating self-responsibility, self-expression, self-identity, self-care, self-love, fear facing and fulfilling work for your own soul—in context appropriate ways—are the keys to all happiness! Thus, happiness has to be engineered, since we are Literally Nothing that is self-aware!

Post No. 072: The Problem With Blamers

The Problem With Blamers

The problem with blamers is that they do not desire to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings and actions. Therefore, the problem with blamers is that they do not desire to be held accountable for their thoughts, feelings and actions as blamers, since they desire to hold everyone, but themselves, accountable.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Being A Recovering Blame-A-Holic: Sometimes, I truly feel like I am a recovering "Blame-A-Holic," so to speak, because I honestly feel that I need to keep a constant watch over my negative thoughts in order to not start placing blame upon others whenever I get stressed out! It is practically a full-time job, but I always try to "pull back" blaming thoughts, in my own mind, whenever I have them. And, then, I also try to re-think those negative, blaming thoughts in a positive, responsible way! For, I truly do believe that even simply thinking negative thoughts creates Negative Karma. –Paul Whiting (written May 1st, 2012 and revised September 1st, 2022)

Post No. 071: For St. Patrick's Day 2015 — "You Can't Stop Living Life Just Because You Might Be Dead"

(Image from Happy Holidays 2015)

You Can't Stop Living Life Just
Because You Might Be Dead

You can't stop living life [today]
just because you might
be dead [tomorrow].

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., Poet, Artist and Philosopher)
"I am the poet who thinks that he knows it!"

My Writing About Still Living Life Even Though You Might Be Dead: You can't stop living life just because you might be dead. And I intend the aforementioned statement in the most positive, and respectful, way possible—and without any disrespect for anyone who may been dealing with some kind of life-threatening health condition, or terminal illness, like I am. (The reader should know that I am HIV-positive with full-blown AIDS. And I have almost died on multiple occasions, due to multiple infections, but that was mostly before I started taking HIV medications, which greatly improved my health.) So, I wrote the above-mentioned statement when I realized that I wasn't really living life because I was so afraid dying. Thus, that was the place where I was coming from in giving this kind of flippant life advice. –Paul Whiting (written March 16th, 2015, revised August 25th, 2022 and revised April 17th, 2023)

My Philosophical Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem can be summed up with the following statement: I wrote this poem when I was worrying about dying (as I often do, since I am HIV-positive with full-blown AIDS) and I realized that I couldn't stop living life today just because I might be dead tomorrow!

Post No. 070: The Proverbial Labyrinth Of The Hero's Path Is Thoroughly Known

(Image from The Quantum Revolution)

The Proverbial Labyrinth Of The
Hero's Path Is Thoroughly Known

The proverbial labyrinth of the Hero's Path is thoroughly known; however, the proverbial labyrinth of the Hero's Path is not necessarily known by you!

-Paul Whiting
(a.k.a., Poet, Artist and Philosopher)
"I am the poet who thinks that he knows it!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Writing About Joseph Campbell's Quote From His Book 'The Hero With A Thousand Faces' Regarding The Labyrinth Being Thoroughly Known:

The labyrinth is thoroughly known... –Joseph Campbell, a partial quote from "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" (first published in 1949)

The proverbial labyrinth of the Hero's Path is thoroughly known; however, the proverbial labyrinth of the Hero's Path is not necessarily known by you! –Paul Whiting (written March 15th, 2015, revised January 25th, 2022, revised September 17th, 2022, revised June 12th, 2023 and revised June 13th, 2023)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Joseph Campbell, The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949)" from Wikiquote:

"Centuries of husbandry, decades of diligent culling, the work of numerous hearts and hands, have gone into the hackling, sorting, and spinning of this tightly twisted yarn. Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god ... where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; and where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world." –Joseph Campbell, from the book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces"

https://en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/Joseph_Campbell

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Hero with a Thousand Faces" from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia—which is funded primarily through donations from millions of individuals around the world, including this blogger (I make a totally affordable monthly donation):

"The Hero with a Thousand Faces (first published in 1949) is a work of comparative mythology by Joseph Campbell, in which the author discusses his theory of the mythological structure of the journey of the archetypal hero found in world myths.

Since the publication of The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Campbell's theory has been consciously applied by a wide variety of modern writers and artists. Filmmaker George Lucas acknowledged Campbell's theory in mythology, and its influence on the Star Wars films..."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hero_with_a_Thousand_Faces

-------------------------------------------------------------------

My Philosophical Notes:

The reason that I wrote this prose can be summed up with the following statement: The proverbial labyrinth of the Hero's Path is thoroughly known; however, the proverbial labyrinth of the Hero's Path is not necessarily known by you!

By the way the quote above, by American Professor Joseph Campbell, which includes the phrase that inspired this post,"the labyrinth is thoroughly known," is from his transformative book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces."

It is one of my all-time favorite quotes.

And, when I was younger (this was in Salt Lake City, Utah), I was quite literally transformed when I read that passage about the hero's path, and how "the labyrinth is thoroughly known," and most specifically the following part of the quote:

"And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god ... where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; and where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world." –Joseph Campbell

Thus, as a young "Poet, Artist and Philosopher," I was so moved by that quote from "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" that it informed my life—along with the many wise words I have read from many other wise authors!

Now, in the quotation above of Joseph Campbell's writing, you might notice that there are three periods within the portion of the quote "and where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god ... where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence," which clearly indicates that there is something more to that quote that I didn't quote! And the reason for this editorial omission has to do with the content of that portion of Joseph Campbell's writing from "The Hero with a Thousand Faces", which states the following:

"...where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves..."

You see, the reason I did not include that portion of Joseph Campbell's writing in the quote above is because it seems to be saying, "rather than killing someone else, you'll be killing yourself." However, I interpret the phrase "where we had thought to slay another" as a reference to realizing that "slaying another" is the wrong path on the Hero's Journey! In addition to that, I also interpret the phrase "we shall slay ourselves" as a reference to realizing that it is OUR OWN EGO that needs to be destroyed, then recreated anew, on the Hero's Journey and not someone else's ego! Thus, at the first part of our Hero's Journey, we may have mistakenly thought that we were going to be destroying someone else's egomania, rather than destroying—and then healing—our own egomania...

...And so, here is the complete, and for me transformational, quote from Joseph Campbell's life-changing book, "The Hero with a Thousand Faces":

"Centuries of husbandry, decades of diligent culling, the work of numerous hearts and hands, have gone into the hackling, sorting, and spinning of this tightly twisted yarn. Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; and where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world." –Joseph Campbell

Just so you know, I revised this prose, as I often do with my writing! And I changed how this prose was written when I was editing it on my "Poet, Artist and Philosopher" and "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blogs. So, I wanted to show you how this prose used to be written, before I rewrote it as above.

And it used to be written like this:

The Labyrinth Is Thoroughly Known

The labyrinth is simply not known by you—as of yet!

---------------------------------------------

And then I revised it to be written like this:

The Proverbial Labyrinth Is Thoroughly Known

The proverbial labyrinth is simply not known by you—as of yet!

---------------------------------------------

And then I revised it, again, to be written like this:

The Labyrinth Of The Hero's Path Is Thoroughly Known

The labyrinth of the Hero's Path is simply not known by you—as of yet!

---------------------------------------------

And, thus, I finally revised it to be written as it is above.

And this prose was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this prose applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."

This prose was written in Portland, Oregon.

Post No. 069: Shamanic Seeing — "The Refried Beans Chicken!"‏

Shamanic Seeing — "The
Refried Beans Chicken!"

Beans, beans the magical legume!
The more beans you eat,
the less meat you consume!
The more beans you consume,
the better you feel!
So, let's have beans for every meal!

The image illustrating this "Shamanic Seeing" post is from a can of refried beans that I opened! And I noticed there was a design that looked to me like a chicken in a sort of 'abstract' way and, hence, the title of this post!

My Philosophical Notes:

The reason that I wrote this poem (with prose) can be summed up with the following statement: "Shamanic Seeing" is basically the same thing as the Rorschach test in that you are "seeing" what's in your subconscious mind!

In other words, it's just like when you were a child and you saw "a monster in your closet" at night, rather than seeing that "the monster" was simply the contents of your closet in the dark.

Thus, "Seeing Shamanically" is essentially the same thing: it is simply seeing a pattern in something abstract like patterns in processed foods—and having that mean something to you a metaphorical way—as it represents some part of your subconscious mind.

And this poem (with prose) was also published on my "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer" blog (please see the hyperlink below for the blog), since I feel that the message in this poem (with prose) applies to the message that I am trying to convey through "Paul Whiting — A Creative Writer."

This poem (with prose) was written in Portland, Oregon.
